The North Australian Festival of Arts (NAFA) is raising a glass to the return of one of its fastest-selling events, with Grapes of Mirth heading back to The Ville Resort-Casino for a second year after selling out in record time in 2025.
Back by popular demand as part of the 2026 NAFA program, Australia’s favourite comedy and wine experience brings together six of the country’s funniest comedians, exceptional wines and a laid-back festival atmosphere that’s all about good company and even better laughs.
This year’s stellar lineup features Merrick Watts, Sammy J, Nath Valvo, Chopper, Nikki Britton and Lizzy Hoo. Returning to keep the good times rolling is crowd-favourite DJ Pedro Moshman, whose infectious sets had audiences dancing long after the final punchline at last year’s sold-out event.
So gather your favourite people, settle in with a cheese board, keep a glass within arm’s reach and let the laughs flow. From the first sip to the last dance, Grapes of Mirth promises an afternoon of unforgettable entertainment.
NAFA Creative Director Anamari Goicoechea said Grapes of Mirth had quickly become one of the festival’s signature experiences. “Getting some of Australia’s biggest comedy names to Townsville all at once is an absolute cracker. Pair that with great wine, DJ Pedro Moshman spinning tunes throughout the afternoon, and The Ville’s stunning waterfront setting, and you’ve got the recipe for one of the most fun days on the festival calendar. Grapes of Mirth founder Merrick Watts said Townsville had more than earned its place on the national tour. “Townsville clearly has excellent taste. You sold out Grapes of Mirth so quickly last year that we had no choice but to come back. We’ve lined up six of Australia’s funniest comedians, plenty of exceptional wine and another afternoon of organised silliness. If you missed out last year, consider this your second chance.”
