NOW HIRING
Executive Director - North Australian Festival of Arts
NAFA is reimagining what a regional arts festival can be.
We are a North Queensland festival with global ambition. We are place-led, future-focused, and deeply committed to elevating First Nations voices and Cultural authority. We believe regional festivals can be laboratories for bold artistic thinking, environmental consciousness, and community connection.
We are now seeking an Executive Director to help build the organisational platform that will carry this vision forward.
This is a co-leadership role alongside the Artistic Director and reporting to a highly engaged Board. The Executive Director ensures NAFA is financially sustainable, operationally robust and strategically positioned for growth.
You will:
- Lead financial management and forecasting
- Strengthen governance and compliance
- Manage organisational risk across festival operations
- Build systems and infrastructure for growth
- Lead and support staff and senior leadership
- Work closely with the Board and key stakeholders
This role will suit a technically excellent leader who is inspired by artistic ambition and motivated by building strong foundations.
We are open to applicants from all industries and are particularly interested in leaders who:
- Have worked in festivals or major events
- Understand regional or place-based cultural contexts
- Have experience navigating public funding environments
- Can balance rigour with imagination
This is a 0.6 FTE position based primarily in Townsville, with room to grow as the festival scales up.
