NAFA relies on volunteers to help the festival team create magic!
If you love working with fun, vibrant people, enjoy music, dance, cabaret and seeing incredible shows for FREE, then being a NAFA vounteer could be for you!
We have roles for people with any and all abilities – all you need is to be over 18.
NAFA 2025 runs from 24 September to 12 October.
Artist & Customer Attendant
We are currently looking for volunteer artist & customer attendants for NAFA 2025. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in event management and the performing arts industry. You will network with industry professionals and fellow art enthusiasts, all while getting exclusive access to festival performances and events.
Role responsibilities:
- Welcome festival attendees, assist with directions and answer questions
- Provide information about performances and schedules
- Distribute festival programs, maps and promotional flyers
- Conduct surveys with festival attendees
- Assist artists during performances
- Assist with artist transportation (current QLD driver’s license required for this responsibility)
- Assist front of house staff when necessary
Role requirements:
- Enthusiasm for performing arts and community events
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence to engage effectively with customers and artists
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Flexibility and willingness to take on different roles as needed
- Reliable and punctual
- Some shifts may require physical work and heavy lifting. If this is not suitable for you, please inform us in your application.

Venue Assistant
We are currently looking for volunteer venue assistants for NAFA 2025. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in event management and the performing arts industry. You will network with industry professionals and fellow art enthusiasts, all while getting exclusive access to festival performances and events. Please note this role requires heavy lifting.
Role responsibilities:
- Assist with the quick and efficient changeover of venues between performances
- Move furniture, equipment, props, and set pieces as needed
- Ensure each venue is clean, organised and ready for the next performance
- Work closely with venue managers to ensure smooth transitioning
- Assist with seating and crowd control if necessary
Role requirements:
- Demonstrates a commitment to safe work practices as this role will require some heavy lifting and physical work
- Enthusiasm for performing arts and community events
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence to take initiative and act quickly when required
- Ability to work well in a team and independently
- Flexibility and willingness to take on different roles as needed
- Reliable and punctual
