Show Description
Party Ghost is a ghoulish journey of the post-mortem mystery through a comedic pop-cultural lens. A cacophony of dismembered limbs and ghosts that range from the ludicrous to the downright disturbing, this show is next level messed up and twice as amusing.

Featuring macabre circus darlings Jarred Dewey (Circa, YUMMY) and Olivia Porter (Circus Oz, La Soireè) directed by Nicci Wilks (Sh*t, The Long Pigs), the show centres around a twisted narrative of perpetual birthday purgatory and ghostly identity crises. As sidesplittingly hilarious and downright weird as it is physically astonishing, this show sees two of Australia’s most sought-after company acrobats behind the wheel of their own show. Fans of high-level circus and dark comedy will find Party Ghost refreshing, jaw-dropping and hauntingly hilarious.

Winner of ‘Best Circus Production’ Greenroom Awards 2020 and 'Best Circus' weekly Award Adelaide Fringe 2023.

“If Edward Scissorhands were a circus show, it would be Party Ghost. Playful, provocative, camp and macabre – an outstanding production from a boldly original new company." - Richard Watts, ArtsHub

“It’s great to see performers having a play with form and character, especially when they are as talented as these two." - Nadia Jade, Fringefeed

“Party Ghost is so far left that you’ll be thoroughly gob-smacked at how ooky, kooky and spooky it is. Deliciously macabre, this is a circus show that places whimsy and surrealism firmly at the forefront.”- Scott-Patrick Mitchell (Out in Perth 2018)

2024 NAFA Review

With Halloween just around the corner, this is a wicked way to get your fix of hysterical horror and dark humour. Suitable for a wide demographic (PG rating), this is some of the finest fringe theatre you’ll see at NAFA in 2024. Audiences can expect 50 minutes of high-energy theatrics and comedy in this spooky yet hilarious spectacle, which will leave you equally shocked, astonished and disturbed, and grinning from ear to ear.

The performance follows the antics of a ghostly duo who are hell bent on creating chaos for each other on their Happy Death Day. The consequences are dramatic and certainly thrilling. Upon entry to this macabre funeral, help yourself to a cucumber sandwich, and, if offered, take a tissue as you’d expect to need on such an occasion. But that’s when things go awry! An eclectic and electrifying soundtrack, and exhilarating lightshow, costumes and grisly props combine to make it such a memorable experience.

Grab your kids or a bunch of mates and check out this highly entertaining hybrid show of circus and cabaret. You won’t be disappointed. Get there early and sit right up the front for the best view and a chance to be picked for some party games with a dark twist. Five out of five stars skulls for this spine-tingler!
