The North Australian Festival of Arts is pleased to announce the appointment of Debbie Rains to its Board of Directors for a term of three years.
The appointment comes as the Festival prepares to launch into its 2025 program of events, which brings together a bold mix of performances, experiences, and creative encounters.
Debbie brings to the Board more than 37 years of business experience in the tourism sector and a deep commitment to the North Queensland community.
As Founder and Managing Director of Gallivanter Travel, she has led the boutique travel agency to become a premier cruise and travel specialist, recognised for its exceptional customer service and bespoke travel experiences.
“I am honoured to join the Board of the North Australian Festival of Arts,” said Debbie.
“NAFA is a vital platform for creativity and connection in our region, and I look forward to supporting its continued growth as we welcome more visitors to our extraordinary home here in North Queensland.”
Co-Chairs, Professor Judith McLean and Merissa Martinez, said Debbie’s appointment would support the Festival to increase its visitor appeal and amplify its contribution to the local economy and community.
“Debbie’s extensive experience in the travel business and her deep roots in the community will be invaluable as the Festival continues to evolve”, said Professor McLean.
“Debbie’s passion for the arts and commitment to regional development align perfectly with our goals for the Festival’s future”, said Ms Martinez.
We are thrilled to welcome Debbie to the Board.”
The North Australian Festival of Arts opens on 24 September and closes on 12 October 2025.
